Compliance & Consumer Rights

Your rights, in language you should not need a lawyer to read.

HVR intends to operate as a consumer reporting agency. That means you have rights about the information we hold, and specific things we must do when you exercise them.

Your rights

What you can do.

Each of these is a working product surface, not a request form that lands in a queue.

See your file

Request a copy of the information HVR holds about you, including where each item came from.

Get a copy of a report

Request a report that was provided about you, and see which organization received it.

Dispute information

Tell us an item is inaccurate or incomplete. We reinvestigate and record the outcome as a new report version.

Track your dispute

See what stage a reinvestigation is at and what the expected next update is.

Report identity theft

Tell us if you believe information relates to identity theft, and we handle it on a separate track.

Know who asked

See which organizations received a report about you and when.

Employer responsibilities

What employers must do.

If you use HVR reports, these obligations are yours, not ours. We build the product to support them.

You must have a permissible purpose for each report you order, and you certify it at order time. HVR stores that certification with the order.

Requires review by qualified counsel

Every statement on this page is a product-design description, not legal advice, and no statutory notice, disclosure, certification or rights summary on this site is final. All of it must be reviewed and approved by qualified counsel before launch.

State-specific rights

Several states give consumers additional rights, including different file-access, fee and notice rules. Select your state to see what applies.
